  • Description: Featuring over 17 miles of dog-friendly trails through stunning desert scenery, Mission Creek Preserve offers a serene environment away from the bustle of city life. The area is rich in wildlife, including rabbits and roadrunners, and features historic stone buildings.  



3. Whitewater Preserve


  • Location: Whitewater, CA 
  • Description: This expansive 2,800-acre nature preserve near the Whitewater River offers trails ranging from easy to moderate difficulty. It’s an excellent spot for hiking with your dog amidst diverse flora and fauna. Be sure to wear proper shoes and bring plenty of water for both you and your pet. Note that there is no cell service in this area.  



4. Butler-Abrams Trail

5. La Quinta Cove Oasis Trails

  • Description: Accessed via Calle Tecate, this area offers various trails ranging from 2.5 to 17 miles. The trails provide beautiful desert landscapes and are popular among hikers and their canine companions.  



6. Jack Rabbit Trail

9. Chuckwalla Trail

  • Description: This trail provides a moderate hike with scenic desert landscapes. It’s part of the Mirada Trail System and is accessible from the trailhead near Rancho Mirage City Hall.
